Mark Hearld's Paste Paper Techniques

Monoprinting

"Mono" means one, and  that's exactly what you'll get. A single, unrepeatable print that can never be made the same way twice. Unlike drawing straight onto paper, monoprinting are created from the back. You're creating an image you can't fully see as you make it, using tools rather than a pencil or brush.

That's where the magic happens. The paper, the ink, and the unknowing touch of your tools combine to produce something you can't quite predict. A genuine, one-of-a-kind surprise every time you peel back the print.

Forget fine detail and delicate shading. This is a process for bold lines, confident mark-making, and expressive gesture. It's freeing, a little unpredictable, and enormously satisfying.

No experience needed! Just a willingness to make marks and see what comes back.

FAQs

What is your refund policy?

If your ticket costs less than £10, I am unable to offer a refund.

If your ticket costs £10 or more, a refund will only be issued if the space can be resold. A £5 admin fee per ticket will be deducted from any refund issued.

Alternatively, you may transfer your booking to another listed session of equal or lesser value, provided you give at least 48 hours' notice before the start of your original session.

As a small independent business, venue hire and materials must be paid for in advance. Low-cost workshops under £10 tend to see last-minute cancellations that cannot be filled at short notice, which is why refunds cannot be offered at that price point.

If there are no refund, can I give my ticket to a friend?

Yes sure - just drop me an email to let me know that what's happening.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, just book a ticket.

I'll provide all the art materials you need. You're welcome to bring your own ideas, materials, sketchbook etc. if you'd like to.

What time should I arrive?

I suggest you plan to arrive 10 to 15 mins before the session starts.

I aim to arrive at half an hour before any workshop I am leading to set up. So I'll be there if you arrive earlier than expected.

If you are held up for whatever reason, just join us when you can and I'll explain any key information you may have missed.

Do I need to be 'good' at, or have lots of experience with art?

No! I believe art and creativity is for everyone - so please come along! I'll encourage and support you to find ways of working that you enjoy and suit you.

Can under 16s come to the Wednesday evening sessions?

Yes, as long as they get a ticket and come with an adult who is also attending the workshop.

Please note, the evening workshops are designed for people over 12 years old, because of the concentration that may be required - but you know your child, if you think they can focus for this period of time, they are very welcome.

Is there a car park at The Printworks?

Yes, but please use the parking space in from the the Printworks.
The space in front of the back gardens belong to the residents.

I'm coming straight from work, there food available?

Yes, there's plenty of choice from the cafe-bar. Just order what you like at the bar and enjoy it at any point during our time together.

We highly recommend the pizza!

Do you also run Pendragon Art Club sessions during the day?

During the school holiday I sometimes run family sessions. But during term time there are currently no day time sessions but It is something I'd be interested in doing, if there were enough people keen to come along.

Feel free to send me an email if you'd like to chat about this.
