BLIND COUNTOUR DRAWING

Blind contour drawing is a drawing exercise that artists use to develop their observational skills, hand-eye coordination, and ability to capture the essence of a subject. The technique involves drawing the contour, or the outline, of a subject without looking at the paper. It helps develop a more intuitive connection between what the artist sees and what their hand draws, enhancing overall drawing skills. Most importantly, it’s fun and liberating, allowing you to let go of the pressure to get it ‘right’ because there is no ‘right.’

Book a ticket, bring along your sketchbook, and I’ll supply the art materials and plenty of encouragement.

“Such fun to play in a lovely environment. Su was really encouraging and invited us to explore the experience of drawing with eyes closed or not looking at the object. I loved it. We had such a variety of objects to work with and plants too.”

“Drawing without looking at the paper was really liberating. I will be trying this before my own sketching sessions. It was such a freeing feeling. Su was great at making me feel fine about letting go of my ‘get it right’ attitude to drawing”

FAQs

What is your refund policy?

Sorry, but unless I can (re)fill the space you no longer want I can’t refund you.

If between us the space can be (re)filled I’d have to take a £5 admin fee.

This is because we are a microscopically small business and to run events like this we have to pay for the venue and materials in advance.

If there are no refund, can I give my ticket to a friend?

Yes sure – just drop me an email to let me know that what’s happening.

Do I need to be good at art?

I believe art and creativity is for everyone – so please come along!

Can under 16s come to this?

Yes, as long as they get a ticket and come with an adult who is also attending the workshop.

Please note, this workshop is open to anyone over 10 years old, because of the focus that will be required.

Do I need to bring a sketchbook?

Yes, please but I’ll provide the material that you’ll need.

I do have some basic sketchbooks for sale. Contact me for me information.
